Walter Lee Ashler, Sr., 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, February 24, 2025.
He was born March 9, 1947 to John Sr. and Minnie (Bywater) Ashler in Union Star, Missouri.
Walter graduated from Faucett High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed dancing and was a member of a square-dancing club. He was also an avid coin collector.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Jr. (Pam); infant sister, Barbara; nephew, Christopher Ashler; grandparents, Oliver and Emma Ashler and Walter and Minnie Mae Bywater; companion, Doris Kessberger; many aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his children, Walter Jr. and Veronica Brown; sisters, Connie Cockrum, Bonnie Giseburt (Ned), and Rita Boyer (Alfred); numerous grandchildren; uncle, Omer Ashler; friend, Amanda Kennedy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life 11:00 A.M. Saturday, New Home Baptist Church. Inurnment Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Stewartsville, MO.
