St. Joseph's Open Door Food Kitchen has been serving the hungry in the community since 1984.
After originally starting at the Salvation Army, the Open Door Food Kitchen moved to 8th and Messanie, a location provided by the city.
Marsha Rosenthal, President of the Board of Directors, says the kitchen serves many.
"We feed approximately 4500 hungry men, women, and children per month which averages about 135,000 meals per year," Rosenthal tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr. "We're open 365 days a year and always have been."
fundraiser is underway to help St. Joseph's open door food kitchen feed the hungry.
For the second consecutive year, the Open Door Food Kitchen in St. Joseph will hold a muffin sale.
Rosenthal says all the proceeds will go towards helping with the mission of the Open Door Food Kitchen
"Our mission of feeding our hungry is if you buy muffins and eat the muffins, then we can feed our hungry," Rosenthal explains.
Four different flavors of muffins will be for sale.
"Banana Nut, Blueberry, Cinnamon Crunch and Chocolate Chocolate Chip," Rosenthal says of the flavors. "We sell them in batches of six."
All orders must be received by tomorrow. The muffins cost 15 dollars per box. Orders will be able to be picked up on November 11th.
