Dixie Lee Hermanson, 83 of Pleasant Valley, MO passed away, April 6, 2024. She suffered a stroke at home and spent her last day in hospice where she peacefully went home to Jesus.
Dixie was born February 5, 1941, in St. Joseph, to Loyde and Irene (Osborn) Tarwater.
She was a Cosmetologist for over 35 years in Kansas City and Excelsior Springs, MO. In her later years, she said she wanted to be semi-retired, so she became a house cleaner for many customers in her area. She took a lot of pride in cleaning and was very good at it and was in high demand.
She loved animals, especially horses and dogs. She never met a horse or a dog she didn't like.
Dixie is survived by her four children, Wendy Shepherd, Stacey and son-in-law Mike Kenney, Lea Ann and son-in-law Brian Frost, and Justin Hermanson. Five grandchildren, Noah Shepherd, Jared Kenney, Sydney Frost Green and grandson-in-law Preston Green, Salene Hermanson, and Kaylee Hermanson, one great-granddaughter Cameron Green and a second great-granddaughter coming soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, first husband Galen E. Hiskey and second husband Joseph Hermanson.
Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64506. Visitation will begin Saturday, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be for family only please.
