With a goal of assembling 900 meal kits the United Way of Greater St. Joseph will host three Caring Connection volunteer sessions during September.

To accommodate a variety of schedules, United Way is offering multiple dates and times.

  1. Tuesday, September 15, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
  2.  Thursday, September 17, from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
  3. Saturday, September 19, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.

All sessions will take place at United Way of Greater St. Joseph at 118 South 5th Street.  Meal Kits assembled during these events will be distributed through partner agencies, churches and local organizations to support individuals and families facing food insecurity.  The initiative is made possible in part by generous financial support provided last November by Mosaic Life Care and Mosaic Life Care Foundation.

“Back-to-school season can bring added expenses and stress for families already working to make ends meet,” United Way President Kylee Strough says in a news release.  “These Meal Kits are one simple way we can help ease that burden and make sure our neighbors have food available when they need it.”

The volunteer opportunities are open to individuals, families, workplace groups and volunteers of all ages.  Community members interested in participating should register at www.stjosephunitedway.org/caring-connection or by calling the United Way offices.
