Mary Ellen Kujawa, 85, of St. Joseph, MO, died at her home October 4, 2023. She was born September 23, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gertrude (Brown) and Noel Pilgreen.
She was raised in Appleton, Wisconsin along with her brothers, Gary and Glen. Graduating from Marquette University in 1960, where she met her future husband, Gerald (Jerry) Kujawa. They wed on January 5, 1963, and welcomed their only child, Karen, the following year. Mary Ellen enjoyed travelling, having lived in 8 states. Wherever she lived, she was always active in her church and community. She managed 2 soup kitchens in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was involved with the Red Cross, and managed the food bank in Anthony, Kansas. Throughout her 85 years, family was always at the center of her life.
She is predeceased by her husband, mother and father, and brother Gary.
Surviving are her daughter Karen (Howard) Klino, grandchildren, Brandon Klino, Ashlyn (Kevin) Ploth, with great-granddaughters, Kimber and Kinsly Horse, Dylan Klino, PFC Ethan Klino, US Army, Justin Klino, and many nieces and nephews.
Ms. Kujawa has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
