Ray Gilbert Generaux, 78, Wathena, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026.
He was born July 30, 1947, to Gilbert and Mary (Wyatt) Generaux in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ray answered the call of duty by serving in the Navy. His time in the service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country, a period that contributed to shaping the disciplined yet compassionate man many came to admire. Following his military service, Ray's talent for refurbishment shone brightly as he skillfully refinished pianos, sharing the music of restored instruments with enthusiasts in California.
Ray later moved to Arizona with his father and brother. It was there that he uncovered a fervent passion for sales, a field where his personable nature and keen intelligence allowed him to thrive.
Life's simple pleasures kept Ray's spirit young. Whether he was tuning into the History Channel, cheering on the Chiefs, or walking through the woods in search of morel mushrooms, his enthusiasm was infectious. Despite experiencing a scare during an early attempt to fly, which culminated in a minor crash, his zest for life remained unshaken. Metal detecting provided him with hidden treasures, but the real treasure was the joy these pursuits brought him and those he shared them with.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving children, David Generaux (Andrea), Amy Sherman (Brian), and Ellen Generaux, who will carry the legacy of his love forward.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 27, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
