Eugene "Gino” Hernandez, 52 yrs old passed away peacefully in his home in Leavenworth, KS on November 22, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born September 11, 1973 to David Hernandez-Cruz and Iris Ramos-Torres in Ft. Dix, NJ. He was the middle child with siblings David and Mila. He graduated from Palmdale High School and attended Vatterott College for Welding, Associate in Diesel Mechanic , and Automotive Mechanics.
Gino was united in marriage to Kelly Sequerth on May 24th 2009 in Platte City, Missouri. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with laughter, family, adventure, companionship and a deep love for one another.
Gino joined the United States Army on March 5, 2003 in Miami, FL and was relocated to Ft. Leavenworth in Leavenworth, KS where he worked as a Corrections Officer. He was transferred to Ft. Riley in Junction City, KS in 2009 then back to Ft. Leavenworth in 2012. He medically retired from the United States Army February 3, 2014 with an Honorable Discharge. During his time in service he had 3 combat deployments tours between 2003 and 2008. He was the first soldier at Ft Leavenworth to be awarded the Combat Action Badge. Other awards include Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars, a 4 time recipient of the Army Commendation Medal , a 2 time recipient of the Army Good Conduct Medal, along with multiple other medals, awards, badges, and recognitions.
Gino enjoyed numerous hobbies including fishing, 3D printing, kayaking, RC cars, boats, and planes, HUGE collector of Batman and other 80's time classics, such as, He-man, Thundercats, etc. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He was a member of the American Legion.
Gino is proceeded in death by his daughter, Nevaeh and son, Carlito.
Gino is survived by his wife Kelly, of the home; children Michael of Leavenworth, KS; Tyler of Overland Park, KS; Victoria of Shawnee, KS; and Serenity of Leavenworth, KS. Two grandsons Tyler and Blake, Two granddaughters Kinsley, Aubree. Parents David and Iris of Ft. Worth, TX; Siblings David Hernandez, Jr of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mila Fromm of Ft. Worth, TX. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025 with Military Honors starting at 5pm and visitation until 7pm at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, KS. No burial or graveside services as he will be cremated. Family will announce a Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
