Serena Marie (Hawley) Dickerson, age 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at Mosaic Hospital in Saint Joseph, Missouri. She was born on September 10th, 1968 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Sherry and Wayne Hawley. She graduated from Benton High School in 1986 and later on earned her associate’s degree in accounting from Missouri Western State University.

Serena worked locally for many years, but her most gratifying job was working at The Guidance Center in Leavenworth, Kansas as a patient intake coordinator. 

Serena loved spending time with her family and friends. Those who knew her knew how generous she was with her time. She loved making others laugh and always had the best sense of humor. She was a true animal lover who cared for all pets including her dogs and ferret. Serena’s hobbies included traveling, camping, going to garage sales, rock collecting and rescuing animals. Some of her recent trips included traveling to the Bahamas and camping in Colorado. 

Serena’s legacy of humor, perseverance, and learning will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit enthused with curiosity and resilience. 

Serena was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She always showered her family with unconditional love. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support will forever live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Dickerson; mother, Sherry Hawley; two daughters, Naomi McQueen (Brenn Cartwright) and Rachel Ogle (Ryan); son, Andrew Hawley; grandchildren, Brody Hawley, Liam and Kaela Ogle; sister, Aileena Palmer; nephews, Riley Anderson and Dylan Anderson (Madi); great-niece, Amelia Anderson; aunts and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her loving father, Wilbert Wayne Hawley Jr.; grandparents, Fern and Jack Parks, Wilbert and Jeannette Hawley; former husband, Robert McQueen.

Per Serena’s wishes she has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
