Maysville, Missouri…..Vesta Elizabeth (Walters) Tunks, age 88, was born May 13, 1936 in King City, Missouri the daughter of Henry Oliver and Jessie Marie (Baker) Walters and passed away November 22, 2024.
Vesta was a graduate of King City High School and on November 22, 1956, Vesta and George William Tunks, Jr. were united in marriage. To this union two children were born. She worked at Old American Insurance Company, J.C. Penny’s and Weight Watchers for several years. After her husband George’s death in 2005 she continued working on the farm where they raised cattle. Vesta decided to retire and sold the cattle in 2017 at the young age of 81.
Vesta loved being with family especially watching her grandchildren grow up. She made many quilts and loved playing cards with her many friends and going to church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband George; sisters, Grace Gwendolyn, Sally Bashor, and Molly Faulconer; brothers, Harvey and Perry Oliver; and friend, Leroy Mills.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Curtis) Wells; son, Mark (Laure) Tunks; Grandsons, Brandon (Julie), Lucas, Jordan(Collin); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024 at Turner Family Funeral Home with burial following at Butler Cemetery. Visitation: one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
