Tina Kaye Hughes 57, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her home in St Joseph. She was born July 12, 1967 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Donna Hughes and William Burley.
She worked at Country Squire as the manager over housekeeping for several years before becoming a full time caregiver for her mom until she was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Her grandkids were her most favorite people on this earth. They could do no wrong in her eyes, anytime they were getting talked to she would jump in and say “Oh leave them alone, they’re fine!”
Tina was someone who found happiness in small things, she loved collecting antiques of all kinds, especially coins, bottles, rocks and gems. Monkeys were her all-time favorite animal, when she was a young adult she bought a zoo pass and would spend all her free days there. She was a Christian.
Tina was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Diana L Embrey, brother, Roy Lee Butterfield, maternal grandparents, Roy and Olivet Butterfield, and her nephew, Wayne Embrey.
Survivors include daughter, Jamie (Shane) Thompson, St. Joseph, MO, son, Kyle Hughes of Springfield, MO, sister, Debra Dawson (Chris Silkwood), Savannah, MO, brother, Ray (Jamie) Hughes of St. Joseph, MO, grandchildren: Chandler, Salem, Lundyn, Braxson, Millie, Troy, and Brent.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 10:00 am, Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Rupp Funeral Home Pastor Larry Gray officiating.
