Judith "Judy" Marilyn Jahn 1922 - 2023

Judith (Judy) Marilyn Hoge Jahn, 101, Leavenworth, Kan., passed away peacefully on Apr. 20, 2023, in Pratt, Kan. She was born on April 19, 1922, in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from Central High School.

Her parents brought her to Leavenworth in 1942, where she met a Captain in the United States Army, Howard Jahn. They were married in 1943 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She supported her husband and brother-in-law as they ventured in the grocery business (Jahn’s Supermarkets) with multiple locations, including Jahn’s Shopping Center, one of which is now the current site of the Leavenworth Public Library.

She spent her life enjoying reading books, needlepointing, scrapbooking, traveling with her children/grandchildren, playing Bridge with her friends, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs as an original lifelong season ticket holder, attending wine tastings and providing for her children to ensure they lived their best lives.

She was a 50+ year (Golden Girl) member of PEO (Chapter EN) and a 75+ year member/benefactor of the Leavenworth Presbyterian Church, serving as a volunteer secretary, producing church bulletins, for several years.

She enjoyed her remaining years living alongside her daughter in Pratt, Kan.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Howard (Skip) and Marsha Jahn; daughter, Marilyn (Jahn) Ferbert; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Solomon and Helen (Watson) Hoge; husband, Howard Jahn; son, Ron Jahn; brother and sister-in-law, Frank (Bud) and Dee (Phillips) Hoge; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Art and Lucille (White) Jahn; son-in-law, Richard Ferbert; Edna Brown; and a black Scottish Terrier, Bubbles.

The visitation will be held on May 5 at 10 a.m. and the service will start at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Leavenworth, 407 Walnut St., Leavenworth, Kan. 66048. There will be a gravesite ceremony at Mount Muncie Cemetery, 1500 N. 8th St., Lansing, Kan. 66043, following the service.
