Bishop Leblond will not play their district opener against Pattonsburg on Friday due to positive coronavirus tests within the football program, effectively ending their season.
Athletic Director Michael Evans announced on Monday that the team had received word of positive cases within the team, forcing players to quarantine, leaving them unable to play Pattonsburg on Friday
Bishop Leblond will finish their season with a record of 4-4, finishing up their second season in the 8 man ranks, having won as many games combined as they have over the past three seasons. They finished the 2020 season winning three straight, prior to their game against Northwest Hughesville being canceled on Friday
Leblond is the second St. Joseph school to end their season, St. Joseph Christian announcing prior to week 9 of the season that they would have to quarantine and cancel their regular season finale, also leaving them without enough players to play a district game in Class 1 District 8. St. Joe Christian will be returning to 8 man football next season after two seasons in the 11 man ranks, going 0-13 over those two seasons
With the cancellation of their game against Bishop Leblond, Pattonsburg will now advance to the next round, awaiting the winner of Dekalb and North Andrew
