A St. Joseph man, arrested outside a St. Joseph hotel in 2021, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for trafficking heroin.

Federal prosecutors say 43-year-old Franklin “Frankie” Hicks, Junior had nearly 36 grams of heroin and $2,687 in cash on him when arrested on January 22nd in 2021. He also had two handguns in his vehicle and has been sentenced for illegally possessing firearms as well.

Federal District Judge Greg Kays sentenced Hicks Wednesday to 10 years and six months in federal prison without parole.

Hicks pleaded guilty in May of last year. He is the third and final defendant to be sentenced in the case.
