A new law in Kansas is cracking down on obscuring important information on Sunflower State plates.
Senate Bill 403 restricts "use of materials or objects covering a license plate", and was approved in April. In essence, plate frames can no longer obstruct the state of Kansas' name, the color or month of the license tag, or any part of the plate number.
Drivers can be stopped for this, without any other offense required. The fine is currently listed as $60. The law took effect July 1st.
