Residents of St. Joseph will gather early to celebrate the National Day of Prayer during the annual National Day of Prayer breakfast at the Civic Arena next Thursday.

VIP seating is available to eat breakfast, provided by Gina's, but committee person Melissa Frakes does point the event is free to attend.

"Because we really want as many people as we can have there for praying over our community and praying over our country," Frakes says on the KFEQmunnity show. "So, you can come and you can sit in the bleachers, we actually have students that come from several schools and they sit in the bleachers, but if you really want to be front and center, you want to be on the floor, and you want to have breakfast from Gina's, it's $50."

Along with the Mayor, community members will hear from local pastors, students, and other community leaders who will be part of the program.

Frakes says the speeches will wrap up with this year’s guest speaker George Dennehy,

"He just has a very unique story, he was born with no arms, and he was adopted from Romania really before he was facing death," Frakes explains. "And he plays the cello and not just plays the cello he is classically trained, and so he uses his gifts to go and speak and let people know you can overcome any barriers in your life, but he does it through his faith."

Dennehy will speak around 7:20, following the introduction of the mayors and others in attendance. Breakfast will begin at 7am with the doors to the Civic Arena opening at 6am.
