Michael (Mike) Fanning 65 passed away Tuesday January 7, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care after a brief illness.
Michael was born August 26, 1959, in St. Joseph Mo to Janice and Norman Fanning.
He attended Blair Elementary, Truman Middle School and Central High School.
Mike worked at many places over the years, he was a skilled salesman, worked for several years as Santa at East Hills through the 70’s and 80’s, entertaining his younger nieces and nephews. He never met a stranger. Mike made many friends through his varied vocations, one of them being where he met his wife Stacey, whom he is survived by of the home.
Mike enjoyed traveling, with many adventures taken with Stacey and his stepdaughter Desirae over the years. He also enjoyed cooking, which was where his true talent was. He enjoyed debating politics, was an avid history buff with an amazing memory and ability to recall dates and facts that came in handy during many episodes of Jeopardy. He enjoyed music, trivia, picnics and loved summer nights on the porch and long drives anywhere. In later years, his favorite activity became taking his buddy and forever faithful dog Dyna on car rides and getting her treats and pup cups whenever he could.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Janice Fanning and Norman Fanning, younger brother Tom, older brother Jack Fanning and brother-in-law Jesse Kerns. Mike is survived by his wife Stacey of the home, stepdaughter Desirae and Cody Solotar. sister Cathie and Rick Knox, sister Terry Kernes, Sister Linda and Ronald Tyler, sister-in-law Susan Fanning, as well several nieces and nephews.
Michael has been cremated under the direction of Heaton Bowman with services pending at a later date.
