George Chris Jeanneret, Jr., 96, of Onaga, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Community Hospital in Onaga.
He was born March 2, 1929 on a farm near Vermillion, the son of George Christian and Barbara Ladner Jeanneret. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served on active duty from January 1952 until December 1953, then in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1960.
George worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for forty years.
He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton, and the local American Legion and V.F.W.
He married Mary Kathryn Kocher on October 16, 1955 at Duluth. She survives, of the home.
George was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dale Jeanneret and Aaron Jeanneret, a sister, Adrienne Davin, and a daughter, Kathryn Stephany (stillborn).
Other survivors include two sons, John Jeanneret, Onaga and Rodney Jeanneret (Teresa), Wamego, a sister, Mary Lou Weatherbie, Fort Morgan, CO, three grandchildren, Bradley Borger (Taylor), Abby Rhodes (John) and Lane Jeanneret (Taryn Hall), and two great grandchildren, Nelli Borger and Byron “Little George” Rhodes.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Burial with military honors will be on Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Luke South Cemetery.
