Coming off an All Star campaign in one of the best season's of his career at third base, the Kansas City Royals have signed Maikel Garcia to a five year contract extension according to reports.

The five year extension secures the Royals future with Garcia through 2030 with a club option in 2031, according to a source telling MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.  If the 2031 club option is picked up, Garcia's extension bought out two years of his free agency.  The club has not confirmed.

The 25 year old Garcia earned his first career All-Star berth and Gold Glove Award, playing alongside shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., who signed a 14-year extension in Spring Training of 2024.  Garcia produced career highs in home runs with (16), RBIs (74) and OPS (.800) and played sterling defense at the hot corner, committing just seven errors for a .980 fielding percentage across 1,144 2/3 innings.
