Wanda Lea (Cole) Carter, 83, Bethany, MO passed peacefully into heaven surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Harrison County Community Hospital in Bethany, MO. She was a loving, caring person loved by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Born on January 28, 1941, in Bethany, Missouri to Reta Cole, she spent her youth in Coffey attending school and graduating from Coffey High School in 1959.
Wanda married her husband, Donald Carter, on April 14, 1962, and they became the loving parents to three children: Cynthia, Donald Jr., and Delta. Then later in life, two additional children came into the family: Treve and Tina. She was a homemaker who enjoyed watching several neighborhood children. Wanda loved cooking, baking her well known pies, sewing, playing card games with her grandchildren, and watching her two favorite sports teams the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. She spent time working at Lambert’s in Pattonsburg, Pattonsburg Senior Center, Lambert’s in Bethany, and in the kitchen at Coffey High School.
One of Wanda’s greatest loves was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carter; mother, Reta Cole; sister, Rosie Hunt, grandson, Michael Bell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Wanda will be greatly missed by her children, Cynthia Carter, Bethany, MO, Donald Carter, Jr. (Shelia), Clarksville, TN, Delta (Carter) Dohlman (Jeff), Wichita, KS, Tina Bell (Kenny), Polo, MO, and Treve Gray, Des Moines, IA; eight grandkids and sixteen great grandkids.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial will follow in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
