James Edward Hurst was born in Fairfax, Missouri on January 28, 1972. He was one of nine children of Keith Hurst Sr. and Vikkie (Evans) Hurst.
James attended South Holt High School. He worked for Advanced Pork Systems for several years.
James passed away on December 19, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Sr.; his brother, Jeffrey Hurst; and recently by his paternal grandmother, Izyel George.
Survivors include his mother, Vikkie Larsen, Cumming, Iowa; his sons, James E. “Jimmy” and Patrick A., both of Craig, Missouri and Jarrod D., St. Joseph, Missouri; brothers, Keith Jr., Niangua, Missouri, Marcus A. (Kayla Poston) Cameron, Missouri, and Anthony “Tony” (Kristine), Parnell, Missouri; sisters, Christina (Benjamin) Justus, St. Joseph, Missouri, Tammie (Richard) Sanders, Mound City, Vanessa Hurst, Cumming, Iowa, and Pamela Elm, Greeley, Colorado; two grandchildren, Amirah Brown and Everleigh Hurst; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
James enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, gardening and dancing. He drank his coffee black and strong. He liked older country music, and secretly enjoyed westerns and chick flicks. He was a good cook and enjoyed grilling. His recent Christmas tradition was eating at Joy Wok. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team.
Services: Monday, December 26, 2022, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, Missouri. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Quitman Cemetery.
