Mo. man injured after car strikes a utility pole in the fog

ATCHISON COUNTY, Mo. —One person was injured in an accident just before 8a.m. Wednesday in Atchison County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 24-year-old Tarkio man was eastbound on U.S. 136 three miles east of Rockport.  The vehicle rounded a curve and the driver's vision was obscured by fog.  The car traveled off the south side of the road and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle skidded across U.S. 136, traveled off the north side of the road, struck a utility pole and rolled.

EMS transported the driver to Fairfax Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releaes names of accident victims.
