Roger Lee Carson, 90, Savannah, MO; passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 29, 1934 to Melvin and Mary (Kurtz) Carson with twin brother, Roland, outside of Oregon, Missouri.
Roger attended and graduated from New Point School in 1952. He attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville MO in 1953. He then joined the Army in 1954 and was stationed in South Korea, where he served in the 44th Engineering Battalion. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1956. After discharge, he pursued his education and graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley in 1959.
After graduation, Roger moved to Savannah, Mo and engaged in farming for sixty-five years. While refusing to slow down and retire from farming, he drove for Missouri Western, in St. Joseph and King of the Road from Topeka, KS tour busses for many years. He traveled over the U.S. and Canada including going to the Olympics in Salt Lake City in Utah and Washington D.C.
Roger was a member at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Country Club, MO.
Mr. Carson was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Roland; sister, Marilyn Mitchell and daughter, Lu Ann (Steve) Ferguson
Roger married Barbara Rutherford in 1980. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by sons; Jon (Lynette) Carson; Cody (Allison Lee) Carson; daughters, Debbie (Tom) Brooke; Shelley (Alfredo) Morales Merritt and Brea Merritt; grandchildren include, Abbie (Shawn) Cun, BJ (Emmie) Ferguson, Kurt (Jennifer) Brooke, Chris Brooke, Hunter and Halle Carson; granddaughter, Alyka Zahnd and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Carson has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, where a register book is available to sign during regular office hours. Private Graveside Service and Inurnment at Fillmore Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date.
