LIVINGSTON COUNTY—An SUV driver was injured Wednesday afternoon when the vehicle's brakes malfunctioned.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a Mazda CX9 driven by Maddison S. Schenk, 25, Bosworth, was southbound on Highway D two miles north of Avalon.

The vehicle's brakes malfunctioned as it traveled around a curve. The vehicle traveled off the road and the driver overcorrected. The vehicle traveled back across the road, went off the east side of the road and struck a ditch.

Chillicothe EMS transported Schenk to Hedrick Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. The driver's three small children in the vehicle were properly restrained and not injured.
