James Michael Layden, 64, of Smithville, MO passed away November 9, 2024.
He was born on December 27, 1959, to James E. and Mary Lou (Weik) Layden in Independence, MO where he grew up and graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO.
On November 24, 1989, he was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Lash. They enjoyed living in the Cass County area for many years.
Jim was a glazier by trade and eventually purchased and ran two successful glass shops in the Kansas City area. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, golfing, shooting pool and being with his friends. Most of all, Jim was an amazing family man and loved being a husband and dad and was a proud Papa.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Lou Layden.
Jim is survived by his wife Patty Layden; children Jeremy (Ashley) Layden, Jonathon (Carlotta) Layden, Jeffery (Brandon Magee) Clouse, and Jennifer (Gary) Panethiere; six grandchildren Trevor, Brook, Cole, Penelope, Charlotte, and Jonathon; sisters Beverly Shephard and Debbie Layden; and many relatives and friends.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19th at FOE (Eagles Club) 11424 E 24 Hwy Sugar Creek, MO 64054.
