The St. Joseph Mustangs extended their win streak to four games on Thursday night playing flawless baseball against the Chillicothe Mudcats, earning a run rule 11-0 win in seven innings.
The Mustangs got the scoring started in the first inning taking an early 3-0 lead behind a Michael Paule two run home run and a single from third baseman Mason Holton that scored Ryan Koski.
Paule was responsible for three of the Mustangs runs, also hitting a sacrifice fly in the second inning that made it 6-0.
The Mustangs outhit the Mudcats 11-5 while recording no errors to the Mudcats two.
Max Spittzmiller started the game and pitched two innings, giving up two hits and striking out two, before St. Joseph Christian alum and Missouri Western commit Camden Lutz took over in the third, pitching the final five innings and striking out nine.
The Mustangs now sit just a half game back of the Clarinda A's for the top spot in the MINK League north standings with a record of 32-14 overall, 28-14 in MINK League play.
The Mustangs will host the Carroll Merchants tonight in the penultimate game of the regular season at Phil Welch Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
