BUCHANAN COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Buchanan County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Volvo semi driven by a 41-year-old Orlando, Florida man was southbound on Interstate 29 at mile marker 44.8 in St. Joseph. The vehicle traveled off the east side of the road, struck a sign, overturned and struck the cable barrier. The vehicle came to rest across both lanes of I-29.
Buchanan County EMS transported a 41-year-old passenger in the semi to Mosaic Life Care. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.

The Andrew County Sheriff's Dept and MSHP have reported that southbound Interstate 29 at the 56-mile marker is closed due to an overturned semi-truck completely blocking the highway at the 48 mile marker in Buchanan County.
All traffic southbound is being diverted to Interstate 229. This also has the ramp from southbound U.S. 71 to Interstate 29 closed, and the ramp from Interstate 229 to southbound Interstate 29.
The ramp to go southbound at the 53 mile marker is also closed.
At this time, Sgt. Shane Hux with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H, says a passenger in the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.
Hux says the wrecker needs to safely remove the vehicle and cargo from the roadway.
