Laurie Pierpoint Slaughter, a loving and courageous woman, passed away on June 5, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on April 27, 1963, in Coronado, California, Laurie's life was filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and friends.
After completing her bachelor's degree, Laurie embarked on a successful career as a top-rated sales representative for Georgia Pacific. Over her 17-year tenure, she earned several awards for her sales expertise and was widely respected in her field. Laurie also worked as an independent sales representative for LipSense, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for helping others look and feel their best.
Laurie loved being involved in her children’s extracurricular activities, whether it was attending sports games or school programs, she was always there to cheer them on and celebrate their achievements.
Laurie had a keen interest in finding unique treasures through dumpster diving. Laurie also had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her plants.
Laurie's compassionate nature led to her past involvement in rescuing and rehabilitating ducks in need of a loving home. Her gentle touch and caring heart made a difference in the lives of these animals.
Recently baptized in Dallas, Texas, Laurie's faith was an important aspect of her life. Her spiritual journey brought her peace and comfort.
Laurie is survived by her children, Jaden Slaughter and Jake Slaughter; brothers, Kirk Pierpoint (Ellen), Brandon Pierpoint (Ashley), and Kevin Pierpoint (Aaren); mother, Linda Weddle (Don), father, Steve Pierpoint (Jan); aunt, Martha Elliott; and beloved dog, Pepper Pierpoint Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Rod Elliott, and her grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends in Texas.
