Jeannie Gail Barboza, 73, of Agency, MO passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday July 26, 2024. She was born April 4, 1951 to Leonard and Louanne (Rhoades) Furst. She married Robert Barboza on June 26, 1971. Married 53 years, Jeannie and Bob created a loving life and family.
Jeannie was a stay-at-home mom for many years while also helping her father in the insurance business and working at the Rosendale Lumber Yard as a bookkeeper part time. Later she became a full-time cook for the North Andrew School District, serving meals for many years. She ended her career by working at Walmart and retiring as a Department Manager.
Some of Jeannie’s favorite times and memories were when she was with her family and friends. Many evenings were spent around bonfires roasting hotdogs and marshmallows, sitting in the stands watching her children and their classmates play sports, having the house full of laughing children and friends, and during summer vacations when the family would travel and spend time together.
Jeannie was a remarkable seamstress, creating and altering many wedding and prom dresses for her daughter, granddaughters and nieces. She enjoyed making homemade Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and seeing their faces light up when they were done. She loved to visit her local library where mysteries were her favorite books of choice and crossword puzzles and word searches kept her mind sharp. Swimming was her favorite exercise and Pepsi was always her preferred drink.
Most of all Jeannie loved her family and friends. She always had a welcoming smile, offered a helping hand, and was a rock of support for those in need.
Those left to carry on her legacy of kindness, friendship and service include her husband, Bob; daughter, Bobbie (Scott) Starmer of Harvey, IA; son, Neil (Danelle) Barboza of Agency, MO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister Linda (Randy) Atkins of Rosendale, MO; her brother Greg (Pat) Furst, of Rosendale MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Louanne Furst.
Visitation and family gathering hours will be Wednesday, July 31,2024 from 5:00pm-7:00pm, with funeral services on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:00am. All gatherings and services will be held at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Inurnment will be at Bennett Lane Cemetery at a later date.
