The Missouri Department of Transportation released a list of the state's worst places for traffic delay and congestion, as part of the 2026 Long-Range Transportation Plan.
The list is broken down by district, and while the northwest region did not rank in the statewide Top 10, Saint Joseph did place several times for the northwest region.
The top ten delay hotspots for our region:
- Stewartsville-MO 31 at U.S. 36 North
- Hamilton-MO 13 South at Route P
- St. Joseph-U.S. 36 West at I-229
- Hamilton-MO 13 North at U.S. 36
- Hamilton-MO 13 South at U.S. 36
- Stewartsville-U.S. 36 East at MO 31
- Cameron-I-35 North at U.S. 69 (Exit 48)
- Lathrop-I-35 South at MO 116 (Exit 44)
- St. Joseph-I-229 North at Edmond Street (Exit 6A)
- St. Joseph-I-29 North at I-229 (Exit 43)
The worst delays statewide were found at I-55 South at Reavis Barracks Road in Saint Louis.
Meanwhile, the list for congestion hotspots:
- Hamilton-MO 13 North at U.S. 36
- Hamilton-MO 13 South at Route P
- Stewartsville-MO 31 North at U.S. 36 North
- Hamilton-MO 13 South at U.S. 36
- Stewartsville-U.S. 36 East at MO 31
- St. Joseph-US 36 West at I-229
- Unionville-U.S. 136 West at Route K
- Cameron-I-35 North at U.S. 69 (Exit 48)
- St. Joseph-I-229 North at Edmond Street
- Lathrop-I-35 South at MO 116 (Exit 44)
The most congested spot in Missouri is U.S. 50 West at Main Street in Sedalia.
