Shirley Barnett, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
She was born January 27, 1941 in Elwood, Kansas to John and Frances (Howard) Morris. Shirley grew up in the St. Joseph area.
Shirley married Larry Leroy Barnett on September 4, 1960, and they made their home in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2020.
She attended Sparta United Methodist Church and then Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the women’s group.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially growing her Christmas cactus. Later in life she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always had a box of toys ready for the grandkids when they came to visit, toys that are keepsakes for them today. Shirley also loved Tweety Bird.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Larry; her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include her children, Roy Barnett, Kim Pflugradt (Matt), Jennifer Pflugradt (Jay), and Paul Barnett (Christine); grandchildren, Ryan Pflugradt (Hannah), Taylor Pflugradt, Chris Pflugradt, Jason Pflugradt (Linsey), Katie Pflugradt (Matt), Scotty Pflugradt, Elizabeth Barnett (Raul), and Anessia Barnett; great-grandchildren, Ava, Evan, Andrew, and Caroline, with one on the way; sister, Pat Karr (Danny); and several nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services 3:00 P.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
