A St. Joseph elementary school teacher will spend next week helping a team of bikers, traveling from Holly, Colorado to St. Louis, Missouri.
They are biking for a purpose under the organization called “Biking for Babies.”
St. Francis Xavier Third Grade teacher Erin Sprenger serves on the support crew, saying those who participate sacrifice as they raise money for pregnancy resource centers across the country.
“The riders are obviously offering physical sacrifice, riding 100 miles a day through hot, Midwestern summer weather and our support crew, we’re offering sacrifice, serving the riders and making sure that they have all of their needs met,” Sprenger tells host Barry Birr on the KFEQ Hotline.
Sprenger says she got interested in the St. Joseph Pregnancy Resource Center while in college. The centers offer services for pregnant women free of charge, including the St. Joseph Pregnancy Resource Center.
“We are raising money and awareness for pregnancy resource centers all across the nation, helping to serve women who are in crisis, meeting them with love and support,” Sprenger says.
Biking for Babies will field four teams, the largest participation in the fundraiser’s history. All the teams converge in St. Louis. The others leave from Green Bay, Wisconsin; Columbus, Ohio; and Natchez, Mississippi.
