As families prepare for one of the biggest holidays of the year, St. Joseph Youth Alliance would like to offer a reminder that the world’s biggest day of generosity is taking place today.

“GivingTuesday” began in 2012 with the idea that this day, five days after Thanksgiving, would be dedicated to encouraging people to do good. It’s a movement that has unleashed the power of radical generosity throughout the world, and at Youth Alliance, this generosity can have a big impact on our area youth.

“When you invest in the youth of St. Joseph,” said Robin Hammond, executive director of Youth Alliance, “you tell them someone is on their side.”

Since 1991, the organization has worked alongside members of the community to equip children and young adults with the tools they need to succeed.

“We have personally witnessed how donations from the community positively impact our programs,” Hammond said, “which provide guidance for pivotal decision-making, and help young people avoid unhealthy relationships, substance abuse and illegal behaviors.”

Celebrating 30 years in operation, the Youth Alliance theme for 2021 is “Forever on Your Side.” It’s a fitting theme, as the programs that impact the youth of our community have a lifelong effect that helps young people grow up to be tomorrow’s community leaders and advocates for new generations of youth.
