Man injured after couch strikes vehicle on NW Missouri highway

NODAWAY COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 11a.m. Saturday in Nodaway County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Ford passenger vehicle pulling a trailer and driven by Douglas M. Chesnut, 66, Hopkins, was northbound on U.S. 71 one half mile north of Maryville. 

A couch blew off the Ford's towed unit and struck a southbound 2018 Lexus driven by Catherine M. Riley, 73, Lennox, Iowa.

Nodaway County EMS transported a passenger in the Lexus William D. Riley, 76, Lennox, Iowa, to Mosaic in Maryville. There were not other injuries reported. All three were properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
