A Robidoux Middle School math teacher has been charged with first-degree sodomy, accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student.

The Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has filed the charge against Everett “Tim” Harding of Maryville. St. Joseph police officers arrested Harding over the weekend.

The St. Joseph School District issued a statement this past weekend, stating it is limited in what it can say about the issue. The district said it was cooperating with local authorities in the investigation.

A probable cause statement accuses Harding to being alone in his classroom for nearly an hour with a 14-year-old girl, who he allegedly sexually assaulted. The statement also said other staff members at the middle school witnessed and reported inappropriate behavior leading up to the incident.

The St. Joseph School District says Robidoux Middle School parents have been notified. Robidoux staff is available for students, especially if they have pertinent information regarding this matter, according to the district.
