James "Jim" Treiber, of St. Joseph, passed away on March 28, 2023 as the natural result of living 89 long and fulfilling years.
Jim was born in 1933 to Virgie and Eugene Treiber of Topeka, KS. Some years later Jim decided that there were greater opportunities outside of the halls of high school, so he left prematurely to join the United States Air Force. He served honorably as an airman from 1951 through 1955, serving most notably in Japan during the Korean conflict.
Following an honorable discharge, Jim met his future bride Judy at Akey's Bakery in Topeka. Refusing to marry Jim until he completed high school, Jim negotiated his re-admission into Topeka High. He soon completed his diploma, and Judy made good on her promise to be his bride. Soon thereafter, Jim was attending Washburn University, ultimately earning a B.A. in Business while simultaneously working nights at Capitol Federal to support his young family. Following the conferral of his degree, Jim began a lifelong career in retail management. Over the years, Jim and Judy brought three daughters into the world: Susan, Linda and Janet, each of whom provided abundant pride over the course of his lifetime.
After a fulfilling career, Jim retired, immediately setting himself to the tasks of taking cruises, making time for family visits, and otherwise taking it easy.
Jim is predeceased by both parents, his brother Bill, and sister Doris Jean. He is survived by his beloved bride Judy and their daughters, along with three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held for family.
