Jerry Dean Rawlings 1943 - 2022

Jerry Dean Rawlings, 78, of Weston, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022. Jerry was born on November 19, 1943 in Leavenworth, KS to Earl Charles and Nellie Wray (Buckler) Rawlings. Jerry was devoted to his entire family; wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life, Jerry held several different jobs. He was a police officer and maintenance worker for the city of Platte City as well as a plumber for local businesses. He eventually retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation as the sign man in 2006 after more than 20 years of service.

Even in retirement Jerry was a busy man working on small engines and lawnmowers. Jerry was known in the area as the lawnmower repair king. There wasn’t a small engine out there that he couldn’t fix, a skill his family always greatly appreciated. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Steve, Gary, and Roger Rawlings. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of the home, son Kirk (Alisa) Rawlings, of Weston, daughters Donna Shiner, of Platte City, Lois (Kristian) Madsen, of Platte City, Lori (Doug) Pflugradt, of Weston, and Missy (Mike) Flynn, of Shawnee, KS.

Grandchildren Andrew (Abby) Pflugradt, Matthew Shiner, Aryn Pflugradt, Joshua Shiner, Kelby Rawlings, Isaac (Allison) Zenil, Nikolas Shiner, Josie Rawlings, Connor Flynn, Mateo Zenil, Bethany Zenil, Kellan Flynn and Keegan Flynn. Great-granddaughters Kenzie, Klhoe, Kaylor, and Kashlyn Pflugradt. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Snyder and Virginia Woodward and brothers, Alton, Charles, and Rick Rawlings.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Vaughn Funeral Home, Weston, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery following the funeral service. Arrangements By: Vaughn Funeral Home
