Ronald David Driskel, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, died December 7, 2024 at a local healthcare facility. Ron was born September 18, 1944, and spent much of his childhood hunting and fishing with his father, Patrick Driskel, in the Gulf Coast area of Texas.
Ron served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic. His keen mechanical skills served him well as a Lithographer at Silgan Containers where he spent his career.
He married Kathleen Lillian Malroney on May 14, 1969 and they spent the majority of their marriage in St. Joseph, welcoming daughters, Lisa Michelle and Jennifer Colleen.
Ron was an excellent marksman and fisherman, winning many shooting competitions and fishing tournaments throughout his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with a small group of friends.
Ron took pride in serving in many leadership roles within the sheet metal workers union, and was very passionate about politics and football.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Driskel; brother, Kevin Driskel; son-in-law, Jamie Miller; and brother-in-law, John Pickle.
Survivors include daughters, Lisa Driskel Hawxby (Van), and Jennifer Miller; grandchildren, Micheal Gray (Whitney), Mackenzie Gray, and Christian Gray; great grandchildren, Oakleigh Gray, Brynlee Gray, and Ryker Gray; brothers, Michael Driskel (Meredith), Tim Driskel (Britt); in-laws, Tina Pickle, Suzy Crockett (Ed), and Judy Geary (Art), and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
