With the start of the school year nearing, Second Harvest Community Food Bank is seeking volunteers for its BackPack Buddies Program taking place next week.
Volunteers will be sorting and packing the product collected for the program on Thursday, August 20th. Children enrolled in the program receive a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack every weekend throughout the school year. During the program's duration, more than 5,600 children across 18 counties and 50 schools have been provided food. The program also assists Head Start and after-school programs.
Funding for the program comes from donations. Volunteers deliver the food to schools every week. Interested donors can find more information on the program by clicking HERE. Donations to the program can be made via check by writing “BackPack Buddies” on the memo line and mailing it to: Second Harvest Community Food Bank. Volunteers can sign up individually by clicking HERE or if you have a group that wishes to volunteer you can click HERE.
