State Rep. Dean Van Schoaick, a Republican from Savannah, wants to regulate drones flying over private property.

Van Schoaick has been working on legislation that would restrict the activities of drones flying overhead. Van Schoaick was able to push it through the Missouri House, but the measure stalled in the Senate.

“I think that’s going to be a very important thing in the future. We passed it through the House this year, got it to the Senate. It didn’t get any traction there,” Van Schoaick tells KFEQ/St. Joseph Post. “I will work with some senators this next year and see if we can get some traction with that bill to protect landowners’ rights.”

Van Schoaick says drones shouldn’t be able to fly over private property, whether a home or a business, without permission.

The Missouri legislative session ended May 12th. Much legislation died in the last two weeks of the session as state senators mounted filibusters in the closing days, keeping legislation from coming to the Senate floor for debate.
