Neva Lorene Bammer was born on January 17, 1930 in Burlington Junction, Missouri. She was one of 11 children of John C. and Cora E. (Stuart) Keever. Neva attended Mound City High School.
On Oct. 28, 1947 she married Marshall Waldon Bammer in St. Joseph, Missouri, and they lived north of Mound City. Neva was a farm wife who enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and crocheting doilies. She was especially known for her homemade pies, long johns, and noodles.
Neva worked at various businesses, including the Sylvan Dale Ranch in Colorado, Tilley’s Café, Duck Inn Hotel, Bammer’s Café, Audrey’s Motel, and Dick’s Rexall. She also cleaned houses.
Neva passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at a Mound City care center.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Marshall; sons, David and Jimmie; and her siblings, J.R. Keever, Robert “Bobby” Keever, Dillard Keever, John C. “Johnnie” Keever, Jr., Arthur Keever, Mildred Crockett, Wilma Buetzer, Eva Mae Lynch, Roberta Brown, and Nora Wilson.
Survivors include her children, Jerry Bammer of Maitland, Missouri and Deborah (Larry) Geib of Mound City; daughter-in-law, Peggy Bammer of Malvern, Iowa; grandchildren, Chris Bammer, Jeremy Bammer, Danielle Bammer, Junior Bammer, Virginia Dozier, Wade Kelso, Phil Bammer, Mary Waymire, Michael French, Mary Kay Farrow, Kyle Geib, Camille Lucito, and Carrie Thom; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren.
Family visitation: Friday, January 19, 2024, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Funeral services: Saturday, January 20, 2024, 10:30 am, First Christian Church, Mound City. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials: Mound City Nutrition Site or Community Hospital-Fairfax.
