Douglas A. Freeman, 71, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023.
He was born on May 14, 1951, in Independence, Missouri to Richard A. and Ardyce Freeman (Brown).
He graduated from the University of Missouri with his bachelor’s degree and then joined the United States Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. On November 22, 1973, he married the love of his life, Christa Wiedwald. She survives of the home.
Douglas worked as an insurance adjuster for Farmers Insurance Group, and later became an independent consultant until his retirement. Richard had a love of country music, cigars, playing board/card games and traveling with his family. After his wife’s diagnosis of MDS, he became a wonderful caregiver who showed her so much compassion and unconditional love.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patty; brother, Richard A. Freeman, II; and daughter, Paula Rene Wilkes.
Survivors include his wife; their son, Douglas Arthur Freeman (Melissa); brother-in-law, John Wiedwald; nephew, Richard A. Freeman, III; and grandchildren, Tyler and Elliana Freeman.
The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
