Missouri Western athletic director Andy Carter announced Tuesday that Buzz Verduzco, the head coach of Missouri Western Baseball since 2000, will retire at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
Just the second head coach in the history of Missouri Western Baseball, Verduzco enters his final season with a career record of 614-514, with a 428-337 mark in MIAA play.
Verduzco led the Griffons to the 2013 MIAA regular-season championship, earning MIAA Coach of the Year awards along the way, Verduzco's Griffon teams posted 16 winning seasons, advanced to 13 MIAA championship tournaments and four NCAA regional tournaments.
The Griffons start the 2023 season on Thursday, February 9 against Ouachita Baptist in the Henderson State Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
