The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association's CEO Council has awarded its current league commissioner a new multi-year contract.
On Wednesday, the league office announced that MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy signed a new five-year deal that runs through 2031. Racy just finished his 10th year as the MIAA's commissioner. During his tenure, the league has combined for 30 NCAA Division II national titles across 11 different sports.
“I am honored to sign this new contract and continue to lead this great Association,” Commissioner Racy said in a news release. “I have the best staff working in any conference office in the NCAA, and I am happy that we have the confidence of our MIAA Chancellors, Presidents, and Athletic Directors that our group is effectively serving our members, and that we are pushing MIAA schools toward our shared goals of competitive excellence, leadership, innovation, and service in NCAA Division II.”
Racy has also helped the league push legislation and policy updates in Division II, including the new Division II Redshirt Rule, the Division II Football Week 0 start date, changes to Division II football spring practice, the Division II basketball season start date, and the new Division II Football Transfer Portal Window.
