Seventy new COVID cases, two new deaths reported in Buchanan County since Monday

St. Joseph health officials report 70 new COVID-19 cases in Buchanan County since Monday - 31 of those were reported Tuesday.

There have also been two additional COVID-related deaths in that time - two women in their 90s. That puts the Buchanan County virus death toll at 185.

Mosaic Life Care is currently treating 11 COVID patients - all in their St. Joseph hospital. The vaccination rate in Buchanan County remains low. So far, 20.6 percent of the population has started vaccination, while only 18.7 percent have finished it.

Over 4,200 people in Andrew County have been fully vaccinated, which equates to a 24 percent vaccination rate.

Currently, 43.3 percent of Missouri's population is fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, 37.4 percent of Kansas residents have finished vaccination. That includes over 1,700 residents of Doniphan County and over 5,500 in Atchison County.
