Motorcyclist injured after he swerves to avoid a raccoon

DEKALB COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just afater 5:30a.m. Wednesday in DeKalb County.  

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 42-year-old King City man was southbound on MO 31 four miles north of Clarksdale. The driver attempted to avoid a raccoon. The motorcycle began to skid and traveled off the west side of the road.

EMS transported the driver to Mosaic in St. Joseph. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
