Cory Michael Amen 1976 - 2023

Cory Michael Amen, 46, passed way surrounded by his family on May 30, 2023 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born August 26, 1976 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Chuck and Gracie Amen

Cory is survived by his wife, Amanda Amen, and their son, Connor Amen of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Chuck and Gracie Amen, sister Loni (Jeff) Wood, niece and nephew Madilyn and Logan Wood, paternal grandfather Wayne Amen, and paternal aunt Mary Carol Adams, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cory was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Jo Amen, maternal grandparents Jack and Lonneta Compton, and a cousin, Justin Adams. Cory was also preceded in death by two very dear friends Rusty Larabee and Daina Dail.

Cory attended Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri and graduated from Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri. He pursued a higher education at Vatterott College and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, spending two years serving in Germany.

After his military service, Cory had a successful career as a photographer and phlebotomist. He was a kind and loving person who deeply loved his friends, family, and his cats. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cory enjoyed taking trips with family, most notably taking more than one motorcycle trip with his father. He also took a camping trip to Canada with his grandparents.

Cory was active in the local music scene in St. Joseph, Missouri. For three years, he was a rhythm guitarist for the band Sinfrastructure and played shows with them all over St. Joseph and Kansas City.

Services for Cory will be held at Heaton Bowman Smith Sidenfaden Chapel in St Joseph, Missouri on Tuesday, June 6 at 10 AM with interment to follow the service in Bucklin, Missouri. Visitation for family and friends will occur on Monday, June 5 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Funeral Service; 10:00 AM, Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel Interment will follow at North Swede Lutheran Evangelical Church Cemetery, Bucklin, Mo. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday evening at our Chapel.
