St. Joseph Health Department reports 227 new COVID cases since Thursday

The St. Joseph Health Department reports another 227 cases of COVID-19 in Buchanan County since Thursday, but no new deaths in that time.

Health officials did not issue reports during the long New Year's holiday weekend.

The positivity rate also jumped up from 12.75% to 15.58% over the last seven days.

Ninety of those new cases were reported Monday, 71 on Sunday and 66 on Saturday.

Buchanan County has now reported a total of 8,595 cases and 132 deaths since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, Mosaic Life Care reports an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Mosaic reports it is treating 83 coronavirus patients in its St. Joseph hospital as of Monday morning - that's up nine since Sunday. There are also five patients in Maryville, and two in Albany.

Mosaic has now tested nearly 62,000 area residents with 8,150 testing positive as of Monday. Mosaic is awaiting results from 63 tests.

Statewide, Missouri health officials report 402,957 overall cases, resulting in 5,562 deaths.

Andrew County reports 1,715 overall cases with 16 deaths. That's an increase of 69 cases since Thursday. Nodaway County reports 35 new cases (2,363 total) and one new death (20 total).

Kansas health officials report 3,572 new cases (231,317 total) and 18 new deaths (2,897 total) since Thursday.

Doniphan County, Kansas reports 746 total cases. Atchison County, Kansas reports 1,285 total cases.
