After playing their first seven games of the season at home, the St. Joseph Mustangs hit the road for the first time in 2025, and shutout the Sedalia Bombers 6-0 on Tuesday evening.
After four scoreless innings, the Mustangs opened the scoring in the fifth, Jack Mosh scoring as Savannah alum Truman Bodenhausen reached first on a fielders choice. In the sixth inning, St. Joseph extended the lead with two more runs, a Dom Felix sacrifice fly driving in Darius Freeman before Lafayette alum Brayden Luikart scored on a double by Mosh.
Northwest Missouri State pitcher Jaren Guck threw six scoreless innings, striking out five and walking one while giving up four hits, and was replaced by East Buchanan alum Bronco Whitt, who struck out one and gave up one hit in the seventh inning. In the top of the eighth, the Mustangs added two more runs, Justin George singling and bringing home Mosh and Felix for the 5-0 lead.
Diego De Santiago pitched the bottom of the eighth, striking out two batters. St. Joseph scored the final run in the ninth inning as Luikart singled to drive in Logan Miller. Cade Perkins closed out the game on the mound, striking out one and giving up one hit.
Luikart (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 SB), Miller (2-5, 1 R), and Mosh (2-4, 1 RBI, 2 Rs, 1 BB, 1 2B, 1 SB) led the way at the plate for the Mustangs in the win. \
The Mustangs return to Phil Welch Stadium on Wednesday. St. Joseph will host the Chillicothe Mudcats. First pitch is at 6:30pm with gates opening at 5:15.
