Police: Kan. man accused of skipping court, drug possession

ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a weekend traffic stop. 

Just after 2p.m. on Saturday police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block U.S.59 in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 53-year-old Dwight Downing, was arrested on

outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court. During his arrest he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, according to Wilson.  Downing remains in custody.

Dwight A. Downing, Jr., 53, Atchison, was arrested on Saturday on District and Municipal Court warrants for failure to appear in court. Also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. Taken to County Jail.
