Todd Lee Wood 1965 - 2024

Todd Lee Wood, 58, of Wheatland, MO passed away April 5, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House with family by his side.

He was born December 31, 1965, at home in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents William E. Wood, Sr. and Norma Jean (Bickelhaupt) Wood lived in Kansas City, MO. They moved to Bean Lake, MO when Todd was 14. He attended West Platte High School in Weston, MO. While living in Kansas City, he played baseball in the North Kansas City League. He was a center fielder with an arm like a rocket. He set a record and hit a home run at 504 Feet. Todd tried out for the Royals when he was 17 years old. He finished his baseball career at West Platte High School and helped coach youth leagues in the summer.

Todd worked for his father and brother in residential painting for several years. He worked as a plate department lead at Lifetouch Publishing for 25 years, where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed fishing at Smithville Lake, but his favorite fishing spot was Pomme de Terre lake near his home in Wheatland. Todd also enjoyed hunting, camping, and flying RC airplanes.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Tovey G. McRill, and Tammy Pemberton, and his brother Frederick W. Wood. He is survived by his sons, Christopher D. Wood and John Jacob “Jake” (Whitney) Wood; his grandchildren Tyler Wood, Layla Wood, Tristan Wood, and Blakeley Wood, his sister Tina K. (Mitch) Raney, his brother William E. Wood, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Platte City, MO; followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be given to: First Baptist Church Platte City, 17385 Hwy. 371, Platte City, MO 64079.
